just a thought. [ladies on cycles]

Sourced from the tangled scrag of the Hulton Archive, these excellent shots by Augustus Rischgitz show just how the ladies of the late 19th century used to role. What a delight.

just a thought. [charles collins]

Collin's crustacean portrait, Lobster on a Delft Dish (1738), is perhaps my second favorite thing an artist has ever done with a lobster, surpased only by this, of course.

Accomplished, retrained, but just Baroque enough to be obscene. Bravo Charles.

just a thought. [bernard cohen]

"A storyteller and a creator of pictorial theatre", he calls himself.

just a thought. [the space]

I highly recommend you take a look at The Space. Launched today, it's a joint venture from the British Art Council and the BBC. And while this six-month trial project may reek ever so slightly of Olympiad era "we support of the arts!" overkill, it's entirely fair to overlook this and appreciate the effort that is being made to close the gap between artist and audience, widening our exposure and access to a beautiful bundle of things we'd probably never make the time to go see.

So far featuring original interviews with artist like Gilbert and George, full length recordings of theater and dance performances, archival films from the British Film Institute and, oh wait, John Peel's entire record collection... The Space is definitely looking like the place.

Enjoy a good little BBC report here.

just a thought. [street view: amazon basin]

So Google Maps have official added the Amazon Rainforest to Street View.

It appears that all the hours spent praying to Vilcambaba have finally paid off.

REJOICE!

visit the amazon - right here, right now.

just a thought. [crazy bicycle]

Bloody brilliant. Designed by Van Hulsteijn in the Netherlands. (of course.)

Remind anyone of these? That's right! Multidimensional trend alert!!

just a thought. [lianna la havas]

So last night in Casa de 103b I cursed a bruised wrist (bicycle accident. bastards.), drank some red wine, and then Benoir asked the ever potent question: "so what's the best new album of the year so far?" Much enthusiastic discussion ensued but I remain steadfast in my convictions - Ms. la Havas is pure gold. Discovering her made me feel like that creepy old man who wanders the beach with a metal detector when it finally starts going off. And here at The Galleon we love a bit of found treasure, so prick up your Saturday morning ears and relish the good stuff.

No seriously, it's almost too good.

just a thought. [radical jellyfish]

I have no idea where this came from.
I hope it's real. (Though this cynic in me thinks not.) Still radical.
